Decorative and functional. The front flap of a kilt, known as the apron, will fly open easily in a breeze. A properly placed kilt pin will weigh down the apron flap and help keep the kilt closed in a draft. In addition, a kilt pin is also a piece of jewelry that adds style and history with a family crest or clan symbol. It doubles as a brooch for a shawl/wrap/shrug/pashmina.
Done in Scotlande themes, this pin measures 3" x 1/2" (75 x 15 mm) and weighs about 1 3/8 oz (44 g). The top bar is adorned with a large pewter Scottish Thistle securely attached with jump rings, so it can easily slide & lock into a various positions. The bottom is loaded with charms & beads depicting various Outlander - themed iconography. A draped chain provides ample room for a large (grade AA) freshwater pearl (reminiscent of the Scottish pearls from Jamie to Claire), an AB opal glass cube and other Celtic symbols. For color, the "Stones of Protection" hang alongside the chain. An interesting article on these gems can be found in Outlandish Observations. Finishing it off are your choice of Outlander-inspired book beads. Attached to lobster clasps, the book beads are repositionable and/or detachable. This allows you the freedom to rearrange or remove them, as needed.
